The presidential election should have been over by now, but it's not. Bush is claiming victory, but no one is certain of whom will be victorious. If Kerry gets Ohio, he'll win for sure. If Bush gets Ohio, his win will be definite. We'll all just have to wait and see.
Locally, it looks like us Wichitans are going to have to pay for a new downtown arena. I voted against it. We already have a 10,000 seat collesium that rarely sells out when big acts actually come to Wichita. The reason people think we need this arena is because the collesium only seats 10,000. They want this large, new, attractive building in the downtown area to attract tourists. What tourists? No one comes to Wichita unless they're obligated (family, business purposes). They don't come here because they choose to. Building a downtown arena in Wichita is a sad attempt at trying to turn Wichita into a tourist city. Trust me, an arena won't change anything. People think of Kansas as a state full of wheat fields and small towns. They don't think there's anything worth seeing here in Kansas. For the most part, they're right. There really is nothing to see here in Kansas.
Congratulations Wichita! Now we'll have wheat fields AND a downtown arena, but still no tourists!Husband: Honey, where would you like to go on vacation this year?
Wife: I was thinking maybe New York or Miami.
Husband: Really? I was thinking that we should go to Wichita, Kansas this year. They have a new downtown arena, you know.
Wife: Really? Let's go to Wichita! I hear that besides the arena, they've got some great wheat fields!
