I've been thinking about those TV spots that every celebrity has done. You know, the ones that urge young people to go out and do their duty as an American citizen and vote. More specifically, they want you to do your duty as an American citizen and not only vote, but vote Bush out of office. How did I come to that conclusion? I read between the lines. They tell you they want you to make the "right" choice. You don't seriously think Leonardo DiCaprio and Yoko Ono want you to vote for anyone other than Kerry, do you? Voting for Bush is the "wrong" choice, right? These spots are not like those produced by MoveOn.org, but they do scream DON'T VOTE FOR BUSH!
We live in a celebrity driven society. Celebrities know what's best. I remember when Barbara Streisand was America's font for political knowledge. She had all the answers. Now, Streisand is passe. DiCaprio is the new Streisand. He has all the answers. He's educated (he's seen Fahrenheit 9/11 a billion times), he's dating a super model and he supposedly writes his own speeches. Let his opinions be your opinons! You can't go wrong if you follow DiCaprio!
In my honest opinion, I think that young voters should follow the advice of Matt Stone and Trey Parker (co-creators of South Park, Team America): Don't vote if you don't have a clue. That means you, Paris Hilton.
